Rachel has been studying art since she was young and learned various mediums including painting, ceramics, sculpture, fabric design, and printmaking. Her professional technique has evolved over the past thirty years to more minimalist forms, using canvas strips to create a minimal linear texture that she then paints upon. Rachel applies layers of colors in their "Prana Series," which vibrate off each other. Rachel is currently influenced by the Japanese aesthetic philosophy of Wabi Sabi, which accepts imperfection and impermanence of beauty as exemplified in nature. As an artist, Rachel resonates with this concept and defines her work through asymmetry, simplicity, texture, and process. Rachel has also traveled extensively around the world, which informs her work.
