Artist Profile
Luis Carlos is a sculptor who discovered his innate ability to sculpt tridimensional forms while studying in Mexico City. After returning to Guatemala, he opened an art gallery, Plástica Contemporánea, with memorable shows that helped train the public to be more open to new forms of expression. He also installed a bronze workshop and trained technicians to carry out the tasks with a high level of competence, inviting artists to mold their works under the concept of sculptural edition. After the gallery closed, he continued developing sawhorse sculptures at a less accelerated pace and accomplished three monumental sculptures, two of which can be found in public spaces. One of these sculptures commemorates the signing of the Peace Agreements that ended 36 years of internal struggle in Guatemala. Throughout his career, Luis Carlos has exhibited his work in important art galleries across the world, including New York, Miami, Mexico, Central America, and Venezuela.
